Just an FYI, make sure that if you use head phones, turn down or turn off notification tones because they will disrupt this app briefly and can be disturbing. The variety of sound selections isn’t even close to comparable. Still, no other app that I have tried as a sleep aid works as well as this one. Most times I don’t notice it unless if I start out in a nit picking mood to begin with. The one thing that is a little off putting is that the tracks loop and sometimes there is a small pause in the tone or sound. Relax Melodies provides just enough sound to drown out my racing thoughts as I switch my focus to the music. There are countless ways to customize your preferences so I doubt that you will get bored with it.įor the nights that I really have difficulty sleeping I am usually in a pre-anxiety attack state. You can choose anything from music (like an orchestra, piano, or Indian drums) to sounds (like a cat purring, white noise, or ocean waves). You choose what to play and how loud it plays. In the paid app there are over 80 sounds and binaurals. In the free app, there are 36 sounds and two binaurals to choose from. It was one of the best decisions I ever made. I tried the free app and was so happy with it that I spent the $2.99 for the paid app. In the paid app, you can even set a timer for when the app shuts down and you can save and name your custom sound blends. Icons rock back and forth when they are playing and everything can be customized to your preferences. My Review: This program is visually stunning. Binaurals resurfaced into scientific studies in 1973 and from then on have been scientifically proven to have an effect on reaching desired brain wave states. In 1839, Heinrich Wilhelm Dove first documented binaural beats though they remained enigmatic for the next 134 years. Binaural beats have been used throughout history by many different cultures, from monks chanting to Native American drumbeats. For this effect, you must use stereo headphones. This tone is supposed to induce relaxation, meditation, or sleep by causing those particular brain waves. Quick History Lesson: For those of you who haven’t heard of binaurals, they are two tones at very similar frequencies that switch rapidly from your left ear to right and back again, repeatedly. ![]() Enter Relax Melodies! This app provides several sounds to choose from, binaural tones, and even volume controls on each individual sound! Getting to sleep has never been easier for me so I decided to share what I thought of this app. After trying to find a perfect sleep inducing soundtrack to use a free Amazon MP3 credit on, I had just about given up. I started having problems getting to sleep back in December of last year.
